ACID CANNIBALS: INTERVIEW
It’s been about a year since the heavy rock assault that is ACID CANNIBALS was launched upon the unsuspecting world. Hailing from Glasgow and featuring members of Cosmic Dead and Droves, this gruesome twosome has toured the country excessively (including as the main support for the might Lightning Bolt), played festivals such as Raw Power & Woodland Gathering and are soon to launch their second EP on Hominid sounds, one of our favourite labels. We were lucky enough to put them on back on in March at The Moon in Cardiff which was just sensational, we’ve never a seen a two piece with so many amps… they were thirsty fellas too.
With the up and coming release, entitled HORNY FOR TOMORROW and yet another huge tour of the UK on the not so distant horizon, we thought it would be good to have a quick chat turbo drummer Fraser to find out a bit more about who the hell they are and what they are doing.
AC: The band started cause I text James saying I needed a place to stay pronto and the response I got was a phone call asking if I wanted to go and have a jam at the Cosmic Dead practice space if he met me in 10 minutes, so we talked about a lot of shit, played some riffs and found out how much fun that was.
CC: "Horny for Tomorrow" suggests you are optimists. Are you optimists?
AC: We do what we can
CC: How come you changed labels for the latest release?
AC: It was just a plan for Al from At War with With False Noise to help out with the first 7" because he is really busy releasing loads of amazing music so we didn’t actually plan for a second release or anything. But! At War With False Noise is one of the best Scottish DIY labels, we love them.
CC: Was touring with Lightning Bolt as an amazing experience as it sounds?
AC: Yeah it was awesome, they are one of the best bands going in every sense.
CC: Give us 3 killer bands from Glasgow that we may not have heard of
AC: Overwhelmed are amazing and made up for the most solid geezers, Cartilage are a trve powerduo better than all and Galoshins are all lovely and make equally lovely music.
CC: Give us 3 killer bands from anywhere on this planet that you both think fucking rock
AC: Wild Rocket are amazing, Canned Heat, Bratakus (not from Glasgow but the trve north)
CC: What are your ambitions for this band? How far are you hoping to take it?
AC: I think we are both aiming pretty high, it’s really fun playing all the time so we want to do that.
CC: What can people expect if they head out to see you on the next tour?
AC: The two of us trying our hardest to play as fast as our wee hands will let us and buckfast.
CC: What's it like living with James, the other member of Acid Cannibals?
AC: It's the best.
HORNY FOR TOMORROW comes out on December 1st, pre-order it from the Hominid Sounds Bandcamp right here. You can go and see them in fuck load of places in December too, tour poster below. See you in the pit!
